The ND/HND Nursing Programme at Cross River State College of Nursing Sciences, Itigidi (CONSIT) prepares competent, polyvalent nurse practitioners equipped to provide safe, effective, accessible, and affordable healthcare across all levels of the healthcare system.
Developed in line with the NMCN curriculum, the programme provides a comprehensive foundation in professional nursing education, equipping students with the knowledge, clinical competence, critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills required to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care.
Students receive extensive training in biomedical sciences, behavioural sciences, nursing sciences, pharmacology, community health nursing, research, ethics, leadership, and clinical practice through supervised learning experiences in primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare facilities.
Clinical postings throughout the programme expose students to real-life healthcare situations, enabling them to develop confidence, professionalism, sound clinical judgment, and the competence required to meet the healthcare needs of individuals, families, and communities in a pluralistic society.

Programme structure
Four progressive levels over the ND/HND nursing track:
ND1
First year — foundations of nursing, basic sciences, and introductory clinical exposure.
ND2
Second year — medical-surgical nursing, reproductive health, research, and community/hospital clinical practice.
HND1
Third year — advanced nursing concepts, child health, management, and extended clinical postings.
HND2
Fourth year — public health nursing, midwifery fundamentals, research project, and final clinical experience.
