About the department
Department of General Nursing
The Department of General Nursing is the cornerstone of nursing education at CONSIT. It is responsible for coordinating the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Nursing programmes in accordance with the curriculum of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
The department provides students with a strong foundation in nursing sciences, biomedical sciences, behavioural sciences, pharmacology, clinical nursing practice, leadership, ethics, research, and community healthcare. Through classroom instruction, simulation-based learning, laboratory practicals, and supervised clinical experiences in accredited healthcare institutions, students acquire the knowledge, skills, and professional values required to provide safe, evidence-based, and compassionate nursing care.
The department continuously reviews its teaching strategies to align with global best practices and leverages digital technologies that enhance learning, assessment, and clinical competence.
