Department of Public Health Nursing
The Department of Public Health Nursing prepares nurses to become leaders in disease prevention, health promotion, community healthcare, and population health management.
The department offers specialized training in epidemiology, environmental health, primary healthcare, communicable disease control, maternal and child health, occupational health, school health services, health education, programme planning, health policy, monitoring and evaluation, and community diagnosis.
Students participate in community-based fieldwork, outreach programmes, health campaigns, research, and multidisciplinary collaborations that prepare them to address emerging public health challenges at local, national, and global levels.
The department also promotes the use of digital health technologies, health information systems, and data-driven decision-making in public health practice.

Head of Department
Mrs. Rita Otutor Osim leads the Department of Public Health Nursing and is responsible for coordinating academic activities, community-based learning, and professional development within the department. She works closely with faculty members and healthcare partners to ensure students acquire the knowledge, practical skills, and experience required for effective public health nursing practice. Her leadership promotes excellence in preventive healthcare, health promotion, community engagement, research, and the application of evidence-based approaches to improving population health.
