Department of Midwifery
The Department of Midwifery is dedicated to producing highly skilled registered midwives capable of providing quality maternal, newborn, reproductive, and women's healthcare services.
The department delivers the Post Basic Midwifery Programme through a balanced combination of classroom teaching, simulation exercises, clinical demonstrations, and supervised practical experiences in accredited maternity and healthcare facilities.
Students develop competencies in antenatal care, labour and delivery, postnatal care, neonatal care, reproductive health, family planning, emergency obstetric care, and maternal health promotion. The department places strong emphasis on professionalism, empathy, patient safety, ethical practice, and evidence-based maternity care.

Mrs. Rosemary Akah Ekpenyong heads the Department of Midwifery, where she provides leadership in the planning, coordination, and delivery of quality midwifery education.
