Programme overview
The Post Basic Public Health Nursing Programme prepares registered nurses to become specialists in community-based healthcare, disease prevention, health promotion, and population health management.
In accordance with the NMCN curriculum, students develop competencies in epidemiology, environmental health, health education, primary healthcare, communicable disease control, maternal and child health, occupational health, school health services, programme planning, health policy, monitoring and evaluation, and community diagnosis.
The programme emphasizes preventive healthcare and equips graduates with the skills to assess community health needs, implement evidence-based interventions, coordinate public health programmes, and contribute to national and global healthcare initiatives.
Students participate in classroom learning, fieldwork, community postings, research activities, and multidisciplinary collaboration, preparing them to serve effectively in government agencies, healthcare institutions, non-governmental organizations, and international health organisations.
